About Sharjah

 Sharjah is the third largest Emirates of UAE. And it is the famous for being the historical and cultural city which hosts museum, old souks and markets along with libraries and Islamic architcutre. Located next to Dubai the city is known as the cultural and literature hub of the United Arab Emirates. It is also famous as the most family friendly destination and only this Emirate of UAE the consumption or selling of alcohol is restricted.

Covering the area of 235 square initial Sharjah’s population determined in the year of 2024 at 1.8 Million people a 2.24% increase from 2023. The border of Sharjah goes till the Khorfakan area which is near to the Fujairah Emirates.

The history of ruling family of Sharjah dates back to 1600AD. The city has a deep history which dates back to 6000 years and appeas in a map drawn by a Greek geographer Ptolemy in 2nd century AD.  Study founds shows the evidence of human life in UAE was discovered on Jebel Fayah which is located in Sharjah that dates back to 85000 BC!

 

Being the centre of education and literature the city has a dedicated area for universities called “university city Sharjah” which is the home of Islamic cultural, history and modern sciences. The architecture of the university city is inspired with Islamic architecture style buildings.

There are lot to do in Sharjah Emirates which is starting from discovery of history in the Sharjah national museum, old souk and traditional style constructed markets which gives the picture of the old style bargain selling experience for the tourists as well as for the residents.

The famous souk called blue souk located in the centre of the city. Sharjah is also home of one of the biggest mosque in UAE called “King Faisal Mosque” that can accommodate 17000 worshipers at a time.
